Carlos Bernales, composer and performer, believes that the capability to express divine art is not so much a question of doing as it is one of becoming. His is a music that is motivated by the desire to serve and uplift the human spirit through music which is expressive of love, beauty and truth.

Several of his works have been performed and played by different ensembles and orchestras in the U.S. and other countries, being in turn broadcasted by television and radio stations. Bernales core output consists of: “Raymi”, “Green Ray ” and “Voyage” for full orchestra, "Sonata for Violin and Piano - Andean", "Duo for Flute and Piano", “Suite for Brass Quintet ”. "Fare of the Marionettes" and “Yanantillan” for chamber ensemble and “Pakarichiquen” and “Yaw Q’entichay” both for SATB choir.

As a pianist, he has performed at the United Nations and several concert halls in the U.S. and abroad, in a variety of styles from classical to tango, andean, latin, gospel, etc..

After several years of investigation and traveling, he is devoted to the study of music of different Latin American countries, especially of Andean music from his own country, Peru, which is a great source of inspiration for his work. Back in Peru, he studied with renowned composer, Enrique Iturriaga, and pianist, Carmen Escobedo.

Since his migration to New York in 1993, Carlos Bernales has studied with reputed composer and conductor, Dr. Thea Musgrave, composer and pianist, Dr. Robert Cuckson, and Distinguished University Professor Emeritus, Dr. Carl Schachter. Bernales holds a Master Degree in both Composition and Piano.
